Midterm Exam:
This exam consists of 5 short essay questions, each worth 20 points. You have 3 hours to complete the exam. As a reference, you can perfectly answer each one of the questions in around 250-300 words.
Final Exam:
The final exam has the same format as the midterm 5 short essay questions, each worth 20 points. You have the same time, 3 hours, to complete their. Again, you can answer each one of the questions in around 250-300 words.

Both midterm and final exam will be available the whole day. Still, the time to complete them is limited (90 minutes the midterm and 3 hours the final exam). Be aware that time starts running when you begin the assessment.

You will have to write a Film Analysis Paper, worth 20% of your final grade, following the APA style guidelines. The first step is to select a movie that deals with the subject of Mass Communication and analyze it on the basis of the theories discussed in the course. You can find a good selection of films in film collection page in this Website. You can perfectly write your film analysis in 8-10 pages (doubles spaced, Times New Roman font size 12).
Papers are delivered online through the particular assignment’s page in Blackboard Learn. I will not accept papers sent through any e-mail system. Make sure that you attach you paper as a PDF or Microsoft WORD document. If you send the assignment in any other format, I may not be able to open it.
Your Film Analysis paper should be structured on the basis of the following categories:
1 – Film Introduction:
Identify the most relevant names in the creation process of the movie, such as the director, screenwriter, actors, …)

2 – Film content:
Describe the role of mass media in this particular movie.
(30%)
3 – Film analysis:
Discuss how the way Media are portrayed in the movie relates to particular theories and authors discuss in the course.
(40%)
4 – Film Evaluation:
Express your opinion about the movie in general and to what extent the media portrait corresponds to the reality.
(20%)
